Tips
Make sure your house has a house number clearly displayed. This helps police, firefighters and ambulance personnel find your house quicker. Sometimes seconds can make the difference in saving lives.
Remember to protect your identity. Shred your bank statements and any thing else that contains your personal information such as your name, date of birth, driver's license number, social security number and account numbers. Check your credit report at least once a year, but preferably every six months. By law, you are entitled to one free credit report a year from the three major credit bureaus. Contact them to find out how to receive your free credit report. By checking your report, you can detect unauthorized transactions on your credit file.
Did you know that on the back of your driver's license is a toll free number that you can call for emergency road side assistance. But, contrary to popular belief, this is not a free service. The Texas Department of Public Safety will call a service company to assist you, but you have to pay the service company for this service.
Animal tags
By city ordinance, you are required to register your animals at city hall. This is to make sure that all animals inside the city limits have been vaccinated to prevent the spread of disease. Go to city hall and pay the registration fee and avoid a citation for an unregistered animal. When registering your animal, you will need to provide a rabies certificate.
Sex offenders
Click here to go to the Texas Department of Public Safety's web site to look for registered sex offenders living anywhere in the State of Texas.
